Grantmaking
Priorities
The Brandywine Health Foundation’s principal and
overriding goal is to support and strengthen the system of
safety net health providers for low income residents in the
Greater Coatesville Area, with special emphasis on reducing
racial and ethnic healthcare disparities.
To that end, proposals
for funding in the following areas will receive priority
consideration:
- General operating support, special
program support, occasional capital needs, or technical
assistance for the existing network of safety net providers
serving the uninsured and underinsured with medical, dental,
and mental health services.
- Programs to enhance the effectiveness
of the Brandywine Health & Housing Center, enabling
it to better serve the community (scheduled to open in
April, 2008.)
- Efforts to provide information and outreach
to the uninsured to promote their enrollment in AdultBasic,
CHIP, PACE, and pharmaceutical companies’ prescription
assistance programs.
- Programs to positively impact the delivery
of mental health services for low income residents, particularly
adolescents and teens.
- Advocacy efforts with elected and
appointed government officials for systems changes designed
to increase insurance coverage through existing or new
government funded programs, and to promote overall public
health.
- Giving priority to funding those programs that include
interpretation services for the Latino population.
The foundation may provide limited funding to meet the
following areas of need:
- Programs to help children in the
local community who have few opportunities to succeed in
life, emphasizing community-wide, systemic solutions and
initiatives.
- Programs to address the problem of obesity,
particularly among youth.
- Programs to encourage health literacy.
The Brandywine Health Foundation has limited funding
available to reduce the need for emergency medical services,
and/or to strengthen existing services benefiting the residents
of the Greater Coatesville Area.
