Help Deserving Children Take Home a Good Book to Read
We’re bookish on the McNeil Children’s Library
in the new Brandywine Center, and we hope you will be
too. Children who visit ChesPenn Health Services and
Community Dental often don’t have parents who read
to them regularly or have books readily available in
their homes.
So the library, named for generous foundation
patrons Jennifer and Bob McNeil, is stocked with books
for children from birth to 15 years of age – books
that the children may take home with them and keep.
Here’s how you can help:
Please plan on shopping
at the Barnes & Noble store Friday, Saturday or Sunday,
June 6-8, 2008 at 301 Main Street in Exton.
If you present
a Brandywine Health Foundation voucher when making your
purchases, Barnes & Noble will donate a portion of
the proceeds to the foundation. The foundation, in turn,
will use these proceeds to purchase new books for the
library.
To obtain a voucher beforehand, you may:
Without a voucher, however, you can still help. As soon
as you approach a cashier in the book store, just notify
him or her that you are shopping on behalf of the Brandywine
Health Foundation and its Brandywine Center children’s
library. You may also donate new and very gently used
books to the library by contacting:
- The foundation
at 610.380.9080
- Alexandra Sharber at Freedom
Village at Brandywine at 610.466.0248
or alexandra.sharber@mybrookdale.com.
Also, many thanks to the volunteers of the Outreach
Committee of Freedom Village Retirement Community. During
a Valentine’s Day bake sale and raffle at their
retirement community, committee members raised $1,500
to purchase books for the library. They have also secured
a donation of over 1,100 books for the library from The
First Book National Book Bank. |
