Frances Sheehan, President & CEO

Frances M. Sheehan has served as the President and CEO of the Brandywine Health Foundation in Coatesville, Pennsylvania since April, 2002.  In that period, the foundation has made over $10 million in grants to improve health in western Chester County, including bringing a Federally Qualified Health Center to Coatesville, helping to launch a new dental center, partnered with the county and school district to bring behavioral health services to children in the community, and built a health and housing center, the first major development in the City of Coatesville in over three decades.

Two years ago, the foundation began the Coatesville Youth Initiative, a community-based effort to improve the overall health of young people in the Coatesville Area School District by focusing on a broad range of youth development programs designed to address such opportunities as improved high school graduation rates, strengthened out of school time programming, and resistance to risk-taking behaviors such as drug and alcohol use.

Prior to coming to the foundation, Ms. Sheehan served as the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Chester County from 1990-2002, where she provided staff leadership for a successful $3.15 million capital and endowment drive, and as one of the founding members and President of the Board of Directors of the Coatesville Center for Community Health, a collaborative effort to improve health care delivery through the co-location of services in a new headquarters building in the heart of Coatesville.

Frances recently stepped down as a member of the Board of Directors of Delaware Valley Grantmakers, where she served as chair from 2008 – 2010, and the Family Planning Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Regional Housing Legal Services, serve on the board of the Center for Healthy Schools at West Chester University and serves as president of Congregation Ohev Shalom in Delaware County.

In July 2011, she was one of 26 female business leaders to receive the SmartCEO 2011 Brava! Women Business Achievement Awards.  In December 2007, she was named a Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal, after receiving the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry's Robert Thompson Citizenship Award in April 2007. In 2002, she received the March of Dimes' Chester County Woman of Achievement in the Field of Health Award.

Frances received her B.A. with Honors in History from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, and her M.B.A. from Temple University's Fox School of Business's Executive Program. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive through the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.
